Empathy is defined as the ability to identify with and understand somebody else's feelings or difficulties (definition by Encarta Dictionary). So it may be helpful before judging a person to put yourself in their shoes. Learn about their life, culture, and the way they were brought up. Often times, knowing a person and where they come from-literally and figuratively speaking- may clear up many disputes caused by the lack of understanding. I can think of many examples to that fact, but perhaps someone can tell some stories about how culture can affect one's perception of certain behaviors.
