On Friday 7/30/010, CLIC welcomed the community to a dinner followed by a discussion with Shaykh Waleed Basyouni. It was about how to make this Ramadan your best. The Shaykh, as he has always done, did not lecture or address the community with a long talk about Ramadan. His focus was on letting the audience spell out what they thought would be a good idea to share. He engaged the community in a discussion that spawned great practical ideas that can be done this Ramadan thereby making it their best. Please read more to learn about these ideas:
1. Memorize a specific surah or a number of surahs so as to come out of Ramadan with a tangible value that remains with you as long as you wish to keep it. This also includes learning and understanding these surahs; reading the tafsir and asking the scholars about them.
2. Attempt to do your 'itikaaf in the masjid this year, mainly the last ten nights of Ramadan. You can do so, even if you have to go to work everyday.
3. Vow to forgive all those who have wronged you. If you want to be forgiven try to forgive first.
4. Offer your services to any Muslim organization as a volunteer. Start with your Masjid. CLIC has ample of opportunity for volunteer work. Sign your name at the office of simply shoot them an email.
5. Study all different aspects of Ramadan and fasting before it starts. Ask an Imam, read a book, listen to a lecture,,, etc.
6. Dedicate some time this Ramadan for your family to study with them, read Quran together, and learn together about everything you can learn this Ramadan which draws you as a family closer to each other and closer to Allah.
7. Reach out to your non-Muslim neighbor, present them with a gift and educate them about Ramadan.
