Acts of hate should have no place in our society, and they have been tolerated for far too long. As this disease grows, it envelops innocents from all walks of life. On this festive weekend, we have witnessed two tragedies: one in Monsey with the Jewish community, and one in North Texas with the Christian Community.
The Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) teaches us that whoever of us sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then let him change it with his tongue; and is he is not able to do so, then with his heart – and that is the weakest of faith.
These tragedies will only continue if we remain silent, and do not show solidarity. More than making statements, we have to reach out to our neighbors and speak to them directly.
We call upon all good people – regardless of your faith beliefs – please rise up and reach out.
To our Christian and Jewish brothers and sisters, know that we, the Muslin community, stand with you in this time of grief.
May the Most Wise, the Ever-Living protect us all.
